Abstract:Early and rapid internationalisation (henceforth as: intzn.) of new ventures is based on business model (hereafter as: b-md/s.) replication. Yet, b-md/s. continue to develop from their initial conception and throughout their repeated application. The earlier and more rapidly intzn. happens, the more condensed is the period during which this evolution can and must occur if the intzn. is to be successful. This article analyses the processes whereby the b-md/s. of a new venture, ING Direct, emerged and evolved with undergoing early and rapid intzn. Identified is the contribution of four processes called clarification, localisation, experimentation and co-option.
