Tiivistelmä:In the knowledge-based economy new product innovations are based on inter-organizational cooperation rather than competition. The stepping stone of innovations has shifted from single entrepreneurial firms to different kind of networks of companies. This article concentrates on how product innovations are accelerated through distributing information across organizational borders and on the phenomenon of network product innovation. The data gathered in this survey shows how knowledge sharing is positively affected by (1) resource complementarity, (2) market orientation and (3) information sharing. Knowledge integration acts as an integrator between the three mentioned factors and the success of product innovations. The authors present themes for future research and discuss the implications for managers.
