| Tiivistelmä: | In this paper, a critical analysis is presented of the tourism encounters of individuals with vision problems and the positive impacts on their emotional well-being and the encountered challenges when travelling. Eight focus groups were conducted with four social and support groups for people with visual impairment. Their tourism experiences are discussed under the themes of: i. embodied tourism encounters, ii. inhospitable tourism spaces, and iii. navigating tourism environments. The study is set within the arising hopeful tourism scholarship paradigm and supported by a research philosophy favouring dignity, equality, respect and social justice. |
