| Tiivistelmä: | This study deals with holiday-related decision making (henceforth as: d-m.) in families by exploring the role distribution (herein as: r-d.) and strategies (as: strs.) employed by family members, focusing especially on the children's influence. A model is developed highlighting the influence of a number of contextual factors on r-d. and d-m. strs. Using analysis based on German and Danish families, there are found patterns in the r-d. of family members. Yet, diversions from established knowledge also appear as children take a multitude of roles. The role of the mother differs to some extent across the German and Danish data. Contextual factors like parental perceptions of children and societal structures are useful in explaining this complexity in r-d. etc. |
