Tiivistelmä:The "inner life" of an organization (henceforth as: org.) is uncovered by the culture, which also contributes to the understanding of image and reputation of an org. In addition, for an org.'s development, organizational culture is of importance. This article presents a critical study of artifacts (here as: a-fts.) at a closed psychiatric ward. The study is aimed at identifying and interpreting the meaning of hidden a-fts. in psychiatric care. The ward staff has been observed and interviewed during a 20-month period in 2008 and 2009. It was found that the personnel hid and dissociated themselves from a set of a-fts. because they symbolized abandoned and criticized mental care. Presented is the concept of 'repulsion' in order to signify dissociation from an old heritage still shaping the organizational identity. Hence, the hidden a-fts. announced social disintegration with the org. The results emphasize the value of identifying deeply rooted characteristics. In order to uncover phenomena under the org.'s surface, studies of hidden a-fts. are promising (original in Swedish).
