The market for pet food covers only those products that are specifically manufactured for home annual consumption. Pet care covers all other products, available through retail outlets, designed for the health, hygiene, comfort and well being of home animals. For the purposes of this report, the pet food and pet cue products market is broken down into the following sectors: dog food; cat food; other pet food, which includes sales of foods specially formulated for pets such as birds, small mammals, reptiles and fish; pet care, which includes cat fitter, healthcare/dietary supplements and other non-food items such as toys, pet homes, housewares and grooming kits. The dog and cat food sectors are divided by type into the subsectors of wet, dry, and treats and mixers. |
