Tiivistelmä:The author considers the career moves of executives between organizations. The characteristics of the executive employing organizations are seen as the predictor of the result of these moves. A proprietary data of a retained executive search firm, which includes information about the executives of financial services industry, is used in the analysis. The results indicate how the executive employing organization’s operational excellence influences strongly on the other employers and on the success of the executives’ career moves between organizations. It can also be seen that executives can use their employment power at larger organizations perceived as excellent career-building mechanism and in these cases they don’t need so big promotions in order to join the organizations.
