| Tiivistelmä: | One of the prominent themes in the Dutch labour market over recent years has been controlling the levels of sickness absence and disability benefit claims. This concern has resulted in various items of legislation as well as playing a major part in recent collective bargaining grounds. The latest development is a series of legal amendments, one of the main effects of which is to make employers responsible for paying employees during their first six weeks of sickness absence. The changes, which have a significant effect on the nature of the employer-employee relationship are summarized. |
