How can the UK best take advantage of opportunities to promote wealth creation over the next 20 years? This was the question posed by the government's Technology Foresight Programme launched in 1994, which sought to bring together industry, academia and government departments. Although this exercise has been an established feature of economic planning in Japan for the past 30 years, this is the first time such an exercise has been conducted in the UK, and the first time anywhere that financial services were included. |
