| Tiivistelmä: | The Sino-Japanese war, which started in July 1937, led to the implementation of economic control designed to secure war materials and boost production of weapons. The government announced in June 1938 the Wartime Economic Control Plan, calling for control of supply and demand of war materials, restrictions on imports and promotion of exports, rationing of key material and introduction of official prices, and restrictions on consumption of 33 key items including iron-steel, nonferrous metal, petroleum, raw cotton and wool. |
