| Tiivistelmä: | Before reform and opening up, China adopted a balanced distribution strategy. The focus of investment moved westward in the 1950s and reached upsurge in the 1960s and was gradually shifted from the west to the east in the 1970s In the 1980s, China began to practice a unbalanced distribution strategy, that is, the focus of investment tilted to the coastal area. As a result, a sustained high speed growth was realized in the coastal area. The speed is even faster in the 1990s than in the 1980s. However, the central and western area's economic growth is slowing down due to the low input in these areas and their status degrading continuously. |
