| Tiivistelmä: | The load-based job policy is a heuristic concept of job-shop scheduling, which has been under discussion in Germany for the last years. Its objective is to reduce flow-time by decreasing the work-in-process inventory at a constant level of performance. Also a reduced job lateness is supposed to be achieved. The effects of different routing conditions on the objectives set are studied. It is shown that this concept is not suitable in general for controlling the work-in-process inventory. A strong discontinuity of the routing and also network-routing is particularly problematic. |
