Logging on to the customer computers

Opening a thesis

  • On the desktop of the customer computers, you will find an icon titled:

    Aalto Thesis Database

  • Click on the icon to search for and open the thesis you are looking for from Aaltodoc database. You can find the thesis file by clicking the link on the OEV or OEVS field.

Reading the thesis

  • You can either print the thesis or read it on the customer computer screen.
  • You cannot save the thesis file on a flash drive or email it.
  • You cannot copy text or images from the file.
  • You cannot edit the file.

Printing the thesis

  • You can print the thesis for your personal study or research use.
  • Aalto University students and staff members may print black-and-white prints on the PrintingPoint devices when using the computer with personal Aalto username and password. Color printing is possible using the printer u90203-psc3, which is located near the customer service. Color printing is subject to a charge to Aalto University students and staff members.
  • Other customers can use the printer u90203-psc3. All printing is subject to a charge to non-University members.

Abstract (eng): The purpose of this Thesis was to get comparative results to current information on statistics of door, window, fixed furniture, stairs and roof truss manufacture in Finland during year 2011.
This statistical analysis was done in order to get more accurate separation on different sectors of the fields on this study.

According to comparative studies, during year 2011 carpentry products were manufactured as follows: 1,5 million units of windows, 999 999 units of doors, 2,5 million units of fixed furniture, 0,53 million units of roof trusses and 20 100 units of stairs.
The production amounts have altered greatly between years 2007-2011 due to economic situations.
Renovation has increased its part from all construction, and depending on field of business observed, its share of all construction is from 35% to 60 %.
This survey was conducted as a qualitative research by interviewing industry representatives.
The amounts of total production on each industry field were evaluated based on the size of the company.
In addition to total production amounts, the correlation between revenue and different variables, such as material features, were tested statistically.
The statistical analyses were carried out by using linear regression of multiple variables.

This study achieved the goals set and the results received and match the comparative results on main parts of the studied fields.
In the future the method of studying the total production amounts requires some focus on creating more unified concepts of unit calculation methods, especially in the field of fixed furniture.
Abstract (fin): Työn tavoitteena on saada vertailevaa tietoa jo olemassa oleviin tilastoihin ovien, ikkunoiden, kiintokalusteiden, portaiden ja kattotuolien tuotantomääristä vuonna 2011.
Tilastoinnilla pyritään saamaan tarkempaa erottelua tilastoinnin osa-alueista.

Vertailtavien tutkimusten mukaan vuonna 2011 ikkunoita valmistettiin 1,5 milj. yksikköä, ovia 999 000, kiintokalusteita 2,5 milj., ristikoita 530 000 ja portaita 20 100.
Tuotantomäärät ovat vaihdelleet suuresti vuosien 2007 ja 2011 välillä taloudellisten suhdanteiden muuttuessa.
Korjausrakentaminen on kasvattanut jatkuvasti osuuttaan rakentamisen kohteista rakennuskannan vanhetessa ja sen osuus rakentamisesta on tällä hetkellä toimialasta riippuen noin 35 - 60 %.
Tutkimus suoritettiin kvalitatiivisin menetelmin haastattelemalla valmistavien yritysten edustajia.
Kokonaistuotantomäärien arviot laskettiin yrityksen koon mukaan.
Kokonaistuotantomäärien lisäksi tutkittiin liikevaihdon korrelaatiota muuttujien vaihdellessa.
Tilastolliset analyysit suoritettiin tekemällä tuloksista usean muuttujan regressioanalyyseja.

Tuloksilla saavutettiin pääosin tilastoinnille asetetut tavoitteet ja saadut tulokset vastasivat vertailukohtana käytettyjä tilastoja.
Jatkossa tilastointi vaatii tarkennuksia erityisesti kiintoka1usteiden osalta, jossa tuotantoyksiköiden laskentatapojen vakinaistaminen alalla vaatii vielä työtä.
