Abstract (eng):The purpose of transformer substation's life cycle management is to assure substation's reliable functioning and to minimize the network company's costs and the nuisance caused to environment.
At least the investment, maintenance, loss and demolition costs should be included in the calculations.
It is also recommended to estimate the value of outages to customers and the costs incured to environment due the substation.

The substation is a complex entity which consists of many subsystems that may have quite different life cycles and lifetimes.
The planning of replacements of the equipment helps to reduce the number of required replacement events and to avoid unnecessary replacements.
Abstract (fin):Sähköaseman elinkaaren hallinnan päämäärä on taata sähköaseman luotettava toiminta siten, että sähköverkkoyhtiön kustannukset ja ympäristölle koituva haitta jäävät mahdollisimman pieniksi.
