| Abstract (eng): | This thesis studies surface water design as a part of landscape design. Surface water is the part of precipitation that is not lost through evaporation or sub-surface oozing into the groundwater. Quantity of surface water is described by runoff. Written in the form of a tutorial, this thesis aims at gathering the knowledge and sources of information needed to produce a surface water design. Using an example site plan, a method is introduced for grading a site and designing the surface drainage based on the graded land forms. The thesis emphasizes the importance of land grading in routing the water overland. The thesis studies the subject on three levels:. 1. Principles of runoff treatment, and influence of the operations in the area's and site's natural water balance. 2. The job description of a surface water designer and his/her responsibilities in a building project. Practical experience and opinions of professional landscape designers concerning surface water design as a task and a profession. The chapter includes results of the internet questionnaire carried out in 11/2009. 3. Subjects influencing surface water design, and designing in practice. The design process and its result are illustrated with an example. |
| Abstract (fin): | Diplomityö käsittelee tonttikohtaisten pintavesien hallinnan suunnittelua tontin pihasuunnittelun yhteydessä. Pintavesi muodostuu siitä osasta sadantaa, joka ei haihdu tai imeydy maaperään, ja sen määrää kuvataan valunnalla. Oppikirjamainen työ pyrkii kokoamaan yhteen pintavesisuunnitelman laatimisessa tarvittavat tiedot. Esimerkkikohteen avulla esitetään eräs menetelmä tontin pintakallistusten määrittelemiseksi, sekä maastonmuotoiluun perustuva pintavesien hallintasuunnitelma. Diplomityössä painotetaan maastonmuotoilun merkitystä pintavesien hallinnassa. Diplomityö käsittelee aihetta kolmella tasolla:. 1. Pintavesien hallinnan periaatteet, sekä pintavesien käsittelyn alueelliset ja tonttikohtaiset vaikutukset. 2. Pintavesisuunnittelijan toimenkuva ja asema suunnitteluprosessissa. Pihasuunnittelijoiden käytännön kokemuksia ja näkemyksiä pintavesien hallinnan suunnitteluun liittyen. Luku sisältää internetissä 11/2009 tehdyn ammattilaiskyselyn tulokset. 3. Pintavesisuunnitelman laatimiseen vaikuttavat tekijät ja suunnitelman laatiminen käytännössä. Suunnitteluprosessi ja suunnitelman syntyminen havainnollistetaan esimerkkikohteen avulla. |
