Logging on to the customer computers

  • Aalto University staff members log on to the customer computer using the Aalto username and password.
  • Other customers log on using a shared username and password.

Opening a thesis

  • On the desktop of the customer computers, you will find an icon titled:

    Aalto Thesis Database

  • Click on the icon to search for and open the thesis you are looking for from Aaltodoc database. You can find the thesis file by clicking the link on the OEV or OEVS field.

Reading the thesis

  • You can either print the thesis or read it on the customer computer screen.
  • You cannot save the thesis file on a flash drive or email it.
  • You cannot copy text or images from the file.
  • You cannot edit the file.

Printing the thesis

  • You can print the thesis for your personal study or research use.
  • Aalto University students and staff members may print black-and-white prints on the PrintingPoint devices when using the computer with personal Aalto username and password. Color printing is possible using the printer u90203-psc3, which is located near the customer service. Color printing is subject to a charge to Aalto University students and staff members.
  • Other customers can use the printer u90203-psc3. All printing is subject to a charge to non-University members.

Abstract (eng): Objective of this thesis was to develop procedures and tools for the design process and quality management.
Results of this thesis are presented in a checklist and operational guidelines, which allow the subscriber to receives high-quality, accurate plans that serve the intended purposes.

Applied research methods included a review of various available literatures and conducting an interview.
Available literature along with previous studies gave the basis for the subject.
The end of literature review presents the elements of design quality management, their main defects and techniques applicable to design quality management.
The empirical section examines the practical aspects of the planning processes of quality management.

The interviews indicate that the main design process quality problems have increased in the following areas:.

1. implementation of the planning schedule.

2. completion of inspections.

3. communication between the parties of design process and.

4. designers' qualifications.

The checklist serves as a control tool for the construction planning process both in sketching and execution phases.
It is meant to ensure that the plans meet the customer's goals, they are compatible, and the implementation of the timetable is according to its objectives.
The checklist functions as a source of reference intended to ensure that the planning process takes into account the most important quality factors.
The checklist has been constructed into Excel format which can be tailored to respond each project and its needs.
Abstract (fin): Diplomityön tavoitteena on kehittää menettelyjä ja työkaluja suunnitteluprosessin laadunhallintaan.
Diplomityön tuloksena on toimeksiantajayrityksen käyttöön laadittava tarkastuslista ja siihen liittyvät toimintaohjeet, joita hyödyntäen tilaaja saa laadukkaat, virheettömät ja käyttötarkoitusta palvelevat suunnitelmat.

Tutkimusmenetelminä käytetään sekä kirjallisuustutkimusta että haastatteluita.
Kirjallisuuden ja aiemmin tutkitun aineiston perusteella perehdytään aiheeseen ja avataan sitä tarkemmin.
Kirjallisuusosion päätteeksi esitetään suunnittelun laadunhallinnan osatekijät ja niitä koskevat keskeisimmät puutteet ja käytetyt suunnittelun laadunhallintamenetelmät.
Empiirisessä osiossa tarkastellaan suunnitteluprosessin laadunhallintaa käytännön tasolla.

Haastattelujen perusteella merkittävimmiksi suunnitteluprosessin laatuongelmiksi nousivat.

1. suunnitteluaikataulun toteutuminen.

2. suunnitelmien tarkastaminen.

3. suunnitteluprosessin osapuolten välinen viestintä ja.

4. suunnittelijoiden pätevyydet.

Tarkastuslista on koottu toimeksiantajayrityksen apuvälineeksi suunnittelun ohjaukseen pääurakkamuotoisen rakennushankkeen luonnos- ja toteutussuunnitteluvaiheessa.
Sitä apuna käyttäen on tarkoitus varmistaa, että suunnitelmat täyttävät tilaajan tavoitteet, suunnitelmat ovat ristiriidattomat ja yhteensopivat sekä suunnitteluaikataulu toteutuu sille asetettujen tavoitteiden mukaisesti.
Tarkastuslista toimii muistilistana ja toiminta-ohjeena.
Sillä on tarkoitus varmistaa, että suunnitteluprosessissa huomioidaan tärkeimmät laatutekijät.
Tarkastuslista on tehty Excel-taulukkona siihen muotoon, että sitä voidaan muokata hankekohtaisesti ja tarpeen mukaan.
