You can read theses on the Learning Centre customer computers, which are available on all floors.

Logging on to the customer computers

  • Aalto University staff members log on to the customer computer using the Aalto username and password.
  • Other customers log on using a shared username and password.

Opening a thesis

  • On the desktop of the customer computers, you will find an icon titled:

    Aalto Thesis Database

  • Click on the icon to search for and open the thesis you are looking for from Aaltodoc database. You can find the thesis file by clicking the link on the OEV or OEVS field.

Reading the thesis

  • You can either print the thesis or read it on the customer computer screen.
  • You cannot save the thesis file on a flash drive or email it.
  • You cannot copy text or images from the file.
  • You cannot edit the file.

Printing the thesis

  • You can print the thesis for your personal study or research use.
  • Aalto University students and staff members may print black-and-white prints on the PrintingPoint devices when using the computer with personal Aalto username and password. Color printing is possible using the printer u90203-psc3, which is located near the customer service. Color printing is subject to a charge to Aalto University students and staff members.
  • Other customers can use the printer u90203-psc3. All printing is subject to a charge to non-University members.

Abstract (eng): In ballistocardiography (BCG), the movements of human body due to the mechanical action of the heart and vasculature are studied.
BCG signal was discovered in the middle of the 19th century.
Ballistocardiography has not reached status as a clinical method due to the lack of practical devices and analysis algorithms.

The aim of this work is to implement a measurement station which measures both BCG and additional signals whose purpose is to provide means to approximate breath, blood pressure and heart rate.
The station must also provide a triggering for averaging of the BCG signal.

The measurement station measures BCG with both an accelerometer and a custom made BCG chair.
Electrocardiogram (ECG), finger plethysmogram (PPG) and breathing are also measured.
The measurement station visualizes the results with a LabView application and stores them to files.

To verify the functionality of the measurement station, a series of measurements with ten participants was made.
The results of these measurements show that the measurement station fulfills the requirements that were set in this work.
Abstract (fin): Ballistokardiografiassa (BKG) mitataan sydämen ja verenkiertoelimistön mekaanisen toiminnan kehoon aiheuttamia liikkeitä.
BKG-signaali havaittiin ensimmäisen kerran jo 1800-luvun puolivälissä.
Ballistokardiografia ei ole kuitenkaan vieläkään yleistynyt kliiniseen käyttöön muun muassa käytännöllisten laitteiden puuttumisen ja toisaalta myös tulkinta-algoritmien vähäisyyden vuoksi.

Tässä työssä toteutetaan mittausasema, jonka tavoitteena on BKG-signaalin mittaamisen lisäksi mitata sellaiset signaalit, joiden avulla voidaan arvioida hengitystä, verenpainetta ja sykettä.
Lisäksi mittausjärjestelmän on mahdollistettava BKG-signaalin keskiarvoistuksen tahdistaminen.

Mittausasema mittaa BKG-signaalin sekä kiihtyvyysanturilla että erityisellä BKG-tuolilla.
BKG:n lisäksi mittausasema mittaa elektrokardiogrammin (EKG), sormipletysmogrammin ja hengityksen.
Mittausasema visualisoi mittaustulokset mittauksen aikana LabView-sovelluksella, ja tallentaa mittaustulokset tiedostoihin.

Laitteiston toimivuuden testaamiseksi tehtiin mittaussarja, jossa mitattiin kymmentä koehenkilöä.
Mittaussarjan tulokset osoittavat, että mittausasema täyttää sille asetetut vaatimukset.
