Abstract (eng): The utilization of wood-based biofuels is increasing.
The consequent higher demand of biomass can be satisfied by long-distance transport.
Low energy content of biomass, however, increases transportation costs.
Flbrocom Oy has developed a light, channel composite structured container, which can increase the transport payload.
The aim of this thesis is to examine how the container can satisfy the needs of wood-based biofuel transportation.

Fuel under consideration is forest chips.
The aim is to develop a suitable business model, which serves the needs of customer networks.
Fuel purchasers, suppliers and transport companies represent the customer perspective.
The research method is the Delphi method, where a selected group of experts is consulted on several round of interviews.
The target group of the interviews includes the companies involved in the project and transport companies transporting chips.

Based on study, customers prefer outsourcing.
Container transport and ownership is likely to be transferred to an external operator, which can be a logistics company or a transport company.
Container leasing attracted widespread interest; it is a potential alternative to container ownership.
Customers raised economy as the most important theme.
The main advantage of the container is that the biomass does not freeze onto the edges of the container.
Other priorities were lower transportation costs and the growth of the payload.
Abstract (fin): Puuperäisten biopolttoaineiden käytön kasvaessa kuljetusmatkat pitenevät.
Biomassojen alhainen energiasisältö kuitenkin lisää kuljetuskustannuksia.
Fibrocom Oy on kehittänyt ontelokomposiittirakenteisen, kevyen siirtokontin, jolla pystytään nostamaan kuljetuksen hyötykuormaa.
Tämä diplomityö selvittää, miten siirtokonttiratkaisu vastaa parhaiten puuperäisen biopolttoaineen kuljetustarpeisiin.

Polttoaineista tarkastelun kohteena on metsähake.

Tutkimuksen perusteella liiketoimintamallin pääteemana on ulkoistaminen.
Siirtokonttien kuljetus ja omistaminen halutaan siirtää ulkoiselle toimijalle, joka voi olla logistiikkayhtiö tai kuljetusyritys.
Siirtokonttien vuokraus herätti laajaa kiinnostusta, joten konttivuokraus on potentiaalinen vaihtoehto konttien omistamiselle.
Asiakkaat nostivat taloudellisuuden tärkeimmäksi teemaksi.
Tärkein siirtokonttien tarjoama etu on, ettei hake jäädy kontin reunoihin kiinni.
Tärkeänä pidetään myös alhaisempia kuljetuskustannuksia ja hyötykuorman kasvua.
