Abstract (eng):Vaisala is the leading manufacturer of environmental and industrial measurement instruments.
The CARBOCAP® carbon dioxide (CO2) sensor has been providing accurate measurements across a wide range of industries and applications from building automation and safety to life sciences and ecological research since 1997.

This thesis explains the technology and theory behind the CARBOCAP® CO2 sensor and gas measurement, as well as describes the methods used to optimise the adjustment and calibration process of the new generation GM10 sensor modules utilising the CARBOCAP® sensor.
In addition, a new and improved adjustment and calibration station for the GM10 modules was designed, constructed and tested as a part of this thesis.

The initial GM10 calibration station capacity was approximately 6000 modules per year.
However, by successfully implementing various optimisations to the calibration process and constructing a new high-capacity calibration station up to 60 000 GM10 sensor modules can be calibrated annually.
Furthermore, the modular structure of the new station not only improves ease-of-maintenance through easily replaceable parts, but also provides a platform for future expansion needs.
The GMHEL13 calibration station can be utilised as a universal platform for other similar optical gas sensors.
Abstract (fin):Vaisala on maailman johtava ympäristön ja teollisuuden mittaratkaisuja tarjoava yritys.
