ANALYTICAL REVIEW

Abstract:A channel of transmission can be defined as a mechanism through which a financial crisis in a country A brings about a financial crisis in a country B. In this paper authors are concerned with channels operating through the banking system, which may be in A, in  or in a third country C. The authors focus on channels in which banks are involved because they believe that the banking system has specific characteristics that have to be taken into account when designing policies aimed at containing systemic risks. The authors also regard the presence of a common lender as the most important source of vulnerability. They also offer a theoretical examination of the channels that favor the transmission of financial shocks through the banking system.
