Abstract:In order to discuss the concept of a business model (hereafter as: b-m/s.) portfolio (analogised herein as a dinner), this article builds on the analogy btw. the b-m. concept and a recipe. Considering the different b-m/s. of four European biotechnology companies, explored are their b-m. portfolios, defined as the range of different ways of delivering value to their customers to ensure both their medium term viability and future development. A firm's portfolio can help balance the levels of promise and interdependency with other firms of its different b-m/s., and help it comminicate and finance its activities.
