Abstract:This article investigates the relationship between the competitive processes between and within organizations. Three dimensions are used to examine the competitive process among resource providers within organizations. First, it is proposed that if resources are bundled, it is more likely that organizational performance can be sustained. Second, it is suggested that providers of resources scoring highly along several dimensions will have stronger means of appropriation. Third, it is argued that the organization's competitive position has a curvilinear (inverted U-shaped) relationship with organizational performance.
