Abstract:Seasonality is one of the main tourism-influencing phenomena. It depends on the characteristics of both tourism demand and tourism destinations, concerning location and services supplied. This article focuses on a particular perspective of tourism supply: the cultural attractiveness of tourism destinations. It aims to assess the role of cultural tourism in tourism seasonality. The seasonality of tourist presence is analyzed in various destinations in Sicily, selected according to their degree of cultural attractiveness. The methodology is founded on a regression analysis approach, using the Census-X12-Arima procedure. The results are discussed and some policy implications are provided.
