Abstract:This article develops and tests a new theory about strategic noise concerning CEO appointments. Strategic noise emerges most probably when long-term CEOs have a broad pay gap between other top managers at high share price performance companies, and when a new CEO doesn't have previous CEO experience or comes from a less well-respected company.
