Abstract:This article examines four major multinational oil and gas corporations' sustainable development pressures and corporations strategic response to these pressures. The article argues that sustainable development pressures will not force multinational companies towards normative and coercive isomorphism because sustainable development is mainly a stakeholder-driven rather than a broad social pressure. In other words, in host countries which likely are less developed countries, sustainable development pressures will remain unresolved.
