Abstract:Selecting the location of a plant among a number of alternative locations and selecting among job applicants are typical examples of the problem of choosing the best of a set of alternatives by evaluating multiple conflicting criteria. For analysing this problem, an exact approach is developed that combines the ideas that have appeared in the literature regarding the use of different types of dummy alternatives in conjunction with real alternatives. The experimental results indicate that the new approach is comparable to leading existing ones.
