| Abstract: | The European market for large kitchen appliances is considered, with special reference to France, Italy, the UK and Germany. Principal sectors are laundry appliances (washing machines, washer dryers, clothes dryers), cooking appliances (gas and electric), freezers, refrigerators and combination units, microwave ovens and dishwashers. Markets are highly saturated and heavily reliant on replacement sales. Built-in units are gaining shares and reached 60 percent of the German market. The major growth sector is dishwashers. Sales of microwave ovens have peaked in many countries. New product development has been influenced by concern over the environment. |
