Abstract:Although we are now nearly in the mid-1990s, some current practices in making key corporate and financial decisions seem sometimes to suggest that we are still in the 1960s, writes Tony Grundy. He asks, can management accountants now lead the way in managing for value? The prize, he suggests, will be that they and not others will be seen as creating rather than destroying value. Value management offers some major benefits provided that the process itself is implemented appropriately. This involves a close integration of financial, operational and strategic analysis.
