Abstract: | In series of recent papers a new theory of the labour market has been developed, known as Insider - Outsider theory. Part of the research has been to compare this theory with alternative explanations. Insider - Outsider theory is compared favourable over Implicit Contracts. The purpose of the present author is to show that they are not rival theories; in fact, the two are complementary and should live harmoniously with each other. The two main differences between these two theories are outlined, following the description of Insider - Outsider model and an Implicit Contract generalization. It is shown how the conventional Implicit Contract and Insider - Outsider theories are just special cases. |
