Abstract: | The development of an expert system at a large British company reaffirmed a number of issues that have been raised in previous ES evaluations, namely the importance of having an enthusiastic expert, employing a qualified knowledge engineering and involving the users in the design and implementation of the system. In this case the users at one division were consulted during the design phase and consequently they got a computerized system of transport regulations they could use. The users at the other divisions were not consulted and consequently they felt no ownership the system. |
