Abstract:The end of the Cold War has created new market opportunities for the communications satellite industry in Eastern Europe. The U.S. Japan, and Western Europe are well positioned to take advantage of this opening. Poland and Hungary would make a good springboard for East European investment. Some experts warn that companies wishing to penetrate this market must cope with the lack of technological sophistications, uncertain levels of demand, and the lack of hard currency.
