Abstract:Stability of our climate is endangered by the very largely energy-related - intensification of the greenhouse effect , in which emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), set free whenever fossil fuels (coal, oil and gas) are burnt, play a central role. Yet a number of the theories put forward by climate researchers still lack conclusive scientific proof. However, this does not mean that a wait-and-see attitude can be adopted, and that effective measures are not yet required.
