Abstract:The largest Dutch banks are internationalizing their business at a steady rate. In the case of ABN, it has had historically an international background. Its policy post 1982 was to expand its international network by acquisition or merger. Internationally AMRO's position developed slowly as up to the mid-1970s the focus was on building a home market branch network. By 1982 AMRO had 19 foreign points of sale. RABO Bank has been seriously looking overseas also since 1982.
