| Abstract: | Most existing manufacturing management systems regard bill of material (BOM) and routing as separate subsystems, although a number of authors and software developers have found benefits in cross linking these subsystems. In this article, a data structure called the bill of manufacture is presented which formally integrates the BOM and routing, discusses the merits, and shows how it can be applied in various aspects of production and materials control and costing. |
