Abstract:Global companies often must build international management teams, not only to stay competitive and to respond quickly to new market ventures, but also to avoid the costs of hiring high priced expatriates every time they need managers who have international experience. Gillette has taken a proactive approach to global management. By implementing an international trainee program, in which it trains promising young business students for future international assignments, the company saves money and ensures a steady stream of qualified managers for its operations worldwide.
