Abstract:Since this spring the German economy has been on the upturn. Following the end of the recession during the second half of last year, economic trends in west Germany are now being determined by the forces for economic expansion: both foreign and domestic demand are expanding strongly and for the first time for two years real GDP growth is higher than the rate of growth of productive potential. Meanwhile, further growth has been made in rebuilding the east German economy.
