Abstract:This paper studies the possibility of business school involvement in enhancing exporting skills and knowledge within the small business sector. While it was shown that a generally-agreed-upon core curriculum exists, and that at least part of this curriculum could be imported by business schools, the authors' previous research indicates that a quantitative orientation to business will not fit most small-firm cultures. If business schools are to have credibility in this arena, more qualitatively-based exporting models will have to be developed.
