Abstract:The recent 7-volume study of the World Bank (1991) on the experiences of trade liberalization in nineteen developing economies does not include the experiences of any least developed economies. This study is an attempt at bridging that gap. The paper presents a macroeconomic study of the limits and potentials of trade liberalization in the institutional and structural context of an economy in the fourth world. Bangladesh is examined as a case study.
