| Abstract: | Russia's scientists are finding the path to high-tech profits strewn with risks. Not knowing business, many fall prey to rough Western capitalists, or even rougher russian mafiosi. And most are still ignoring the lucrative market in their own backyard. Russian scientists may be formidable high-tech thinkers, but they've proven themselves less gifted in knowing exactly what the market requires they think about. Russia's cash-stripped inventors will do almost anything - from supplication to dirty tricks - to turn their ideas into gold. A minority has discovered selling what the market wants. |
