| Abstract: | The authors develop a philosophical perspective on the moral obligations of managers, which they call agent morality , by examining the moral implications of agency theory. The view is grounded in noninstrumental ethics, which they argue is locially superior to instrumental ethics. The authors show that the principal-agent model of the firm requires that managers fashion business policies with reference to certain moral duties. |
