Abstract:This paper reviews recent developments in calculating sample size for multinomial proportions, and extends the methodology from simple random sampling to include stratified random sampling. Formulating the problem as a stratified random sample has the potential to reduce the sample size needed to produce a particular coverage probability for the proportion estimates as well as providing statistics for each strata.
