Abstract:After a meteoric rise to 560m pounds, the market for video games hardware and software has declined to an estimated 375m pounds in 1995. The fall in sales was due partly to recession - these are expensive purchases. In the main, however, the current generation of 16-bit static consoles has reached saturation level and the previous generation of 8-bit machines has faded into obsolescence. Over the next two years sales will be concentrated on new and more powerful 32- and 64-bit machines.
