Abstract:The characteristics of the world class company are now well documented and changes have begun to occur in many western companies with the aim of increased competitiveness through improved quality, reduced lead times, reduced costs and enhanced production flexibility. Clearly, in order for a company that wishes to become world class to do so, there has to be not only a change in the definition of the criteria for success, but also the methods of performance measurement employed.
