| Abstract: | During the last decade, research has demonstrated the increasing importance of the contribution of small technology-based firms to both the creation of employment within high-technology industries and the development of technological innovations. Despite this, there has been almost no examination of the individual, known as the "technical entrepreneur", who initiates and manages these ventures. In fact, much of the research examining small technology-based firms in the United Kingdom has concentrated largely on investigating either the general issues of management within these organizations , or the effects of government policy on these types of small firm. |
