| Abstract: | A dragon-shape economic pattern is taking shape with Shanghai as the head, middle and lower reaches as the body, and the Three-Gorge reservoir area as the tail. Shanghai's role of the "dragon head" along the Yangtze lies in making herself an international centre of industry, trade and finance and fulfilling her function of proliferation and radiation along the Yangtze. Each coastal region is to let no opportunity go by, make its peculiarities more striking, expand the scale, be footed in several leading industries, turn out some key products, capture nationwide markets, and work its way into world markets. |
