| Abstract: | Can Shanghai re-emerge as a key financial center? When completed next summer, the Shanghai Securities Exchange building is meant to stand as a monument to Shanghai's re-emergence as China's financial capital. Elsewhere Shanghai is already laying claims to renewed greatness. It boasts Asia's tallest TV tower. And it contains one of the most ambitious experiments ever seen in urban redevelopment: the multi-billion dollar, 520-square kilometer Pudong Special Zone on the east side of the Huangpu River. |
