| Abstract: | As economic change erodes the state's authority, the Chinese are free to sue companies, elect some officials and speak out as never before. Three years ago, Xu Xianghong and Leng Ning bought a new Sony colour television set in Beijing. After bringing it home, however , they found that its functions were different from those advertised in a brochure that had picked up at a new products exhibition. When they failed to get satisfaction from the local dealer, they decided to sue Sony for false advertising. |
