Abstract:This article provides an interdisciplinary overview and some insights into the subject of business-oriented regional studies, with the focus falling on Germany. The content and boundaries of regional studies are considered in the broadest context and illustrated by means of a Venn diagram. Special attention is paid to the difference between "explicit" business study (material relating directly to business) and the value of "implicit" non-business material. The relationship between regional studies and intercultural management is also considered.
