Abstract:The pattern of growth across OECD countries has become more balanced and for the area as a whole output is likely to rise by around 2,5% in 1996. The improving situation is projected to continue over the next two years, with growth continuing at around 2,5% in 1997 and rising to 2,75% in 1998. The inflation outlook remains good and no significant inflationary pressures are in prospect in most countries. The unemployment situation should improve somewhat, although the relatively modest pace of economic recovery in the European Union may yield only small employment gains in that region.
