| Abstract: | Luxembourg is anxious to join economic and monetary union that it has already begun looking for ideas for a new currency. Luxembourg loves EMU. The Grand Duchy has good reason to be enthusiastic over the single European currency. The financial services business, built up by being completely open to foreign players and providing a hospitable environment for international companies, has been the country's saviour. With the decline of the steel industry which had provided the historical source of wealth, finance has sustained an economy which provides the highest per capita income in the European Union. |
